I’ll share with you here some of my favorite photoblogs, and pay tribute to various valuable codes/tools that I’ve used to set up this site.
Site Building
Obviously the website is built on WordPress. It’s simply the best blogging web-tool out there. I don’t think it needs much introduction here. The theme I’m using is Autofocus with some custom modifications – clean easy to use theme specifically designed for photoblogging. In terms of managing the photos, NextGEN Gallery is an excellent plugin for that. In addition, GD Star Rating helps to manage user ratings on both posts and comments.
The tool I used to build the e-commerce on this site is based on WordPress eStore. It’s really a great tool for selling your own downloadable contents on your very own website. It’s a blast to use and nicely integrated with Paypal so you don’t have to purchase an SSL certificate to handle transactions. At $12.50 it’s really a steal! Last but not the least – Contact Form 7. It’s a really versatile WordPress plugin that lets you put a contact form wherever you need it.
Favorites
If you’re interested in a directory listing of photoblogs out there, Photoblogs.org and Coolphotoblogs.com are two extensive sites featuring thousands of spectacular photoblogs. Maestro Illuminist Photography is listed on them of course :D
The photoblogs below are some of my personal favorites, in no particular order (I’ll be adding to the list periodically):
